Prostate inflammation is the most common disease among men over 40 years of age, second only in rare cases to cardiac pathologies.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises - where exactly did this disease come from?
The causes of prostatitis in men are numerous;it is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.
Another characteristic of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can provoke pathology instantly, while others affect a man's body for years and only after 40-45 years is the first stage of prostatitis detected.
In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).
Causes of abacterial prostatitis
It is not just the development of infections that leads to the onset of the disease.The onset of pathology can also be triggered by:
- incorrect structure of the prostate gland, which leads to compression of the prostate gland;
- deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- decreased testosterone levels;
- constant perineal injuries and very intense physical activity, which lead to muscle strain;
- unstable sex life, as well as interrupted sexual relations;
- too much sexual activity, due to which the body does not recover as it should;
- consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly lead to a deterioration in potency;
- little daily activity, causing congestion and constipation;
- regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.
Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis often appears due to poor nutrition, poor food quality, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.
Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology
Causes of a bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:
- very weak immunity, which may be a consequence of an incorrect lifestyle;
- genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria pass from the bladder to the prostate);
- venereal diseases.Most often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
- intestinal diseases.It is very easy for microorganisms to pass from the intestine to the prostate, passing “through it”.
With age, the causes become more numerous and the body's defenses weaken, so most often the disease develops after 40-45 years.
The main symptoms of prostatitis in men
There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms are noticeable at the initial stage of the disease and in the second they can no longer be ignored:
- the urination process stops, becomes more frequent, the pressure weakens and drip emptying syndrome is observed;
- sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
- sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.
Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:
- an increase in temperature is possible due to the sharp development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
- pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
- in the perineal region there is a burning sensation, swelling and an increase in temperature;
- the perineum is painful or unpleasant to the touch;
- during urination a burning sensation appears, pain appears, urine darkens, even blood is visible in it;
- the moment you don't want to go to the bathroom, urine may leak from the urethra.
Similar symptoms, but with less severity, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.It is necessary to be regularly examined by a doctor after the age of 40, as there is also an asymptomatic form of the pathology.
How to treat prostatitis in different ways?
There are a large number of methods for treating prostatitis and not all of them involve serious surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the more gentle regimens will be used to treat it.
Drug therapy
To treat prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) are used, as well as alpha-blockers, natural substances to increase immunity and eliminate inflammation.Medicines that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many medicines, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of a particular man's body.You cannot choose medicines at the pharmacy on your own;you should always trust a doctor's prescription.
Surgical intervention
Radical treatment methods are used very rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:
- transurethral resection - a special instrument is inserted into the urinary canal, which removes part of the prostate and eliminates pressure on the urethra.It is performed without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
- prostatectomy is an operation through the abdominal cavity that aims to eliminate a very enlarged prostate.
Non-surgical methods
Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period after them takes only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:
- thermal methods - elimination through high temperatures;
- ultrasound treatment;
- cryodestruction – removal with liquid nitrogen;
- laser therapy – division of the tumor with a laser;
- magnetic methods with laser reinforcement - using a magnet and laser to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissues;
- Balloon urethral dilation – a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.
Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even unusual methods of influence, such as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be quite effective!
